More than 40 people were injured, 10 of them seriously, when a commuter train collided with a track-laying train in the southern German city of Munich today, police said.

The commuter train, with about 100 people on board, was approaching the Leuchtenbergring station at about 19 mph when the accident happened at 9.20am local time (0720 GMT).
