Four die in Afghan shooting

The US military said today it killed four militants who attacked a convoy in eastern Afghanistan, but an Afghan official said the victims were police officers gunned down after a mix-up.

US spokeswoman Lt. Col. Michele DeWerth said two American soldiers were wounded when their convoy was attacked late last night near Gardez, 60 miles south of the capital, Kabul, in Paktia province.
