Adams' ex-wife quizzed after body find
The ex-wife of football star Tony Adams was arrested after police found her in a car with the body of a woman, it emerged today.
Jane Shea, 38, who helped the England and Arsenal player during his battle with alcoholism but later divorced him, was taken to a police station after officers spotted her and a man in a vehicle with another woman who was slumped over.
The woman, who has not yet been named, was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Shea was spotted in a black BMW by police on a routine patrol in De Morgan Road in a run-down part of Fulham, west London, at 11.30pm on Monday night.
Officers noticed a woman slumped over inside and took her to hospital while arresting Shea and her unnamed male companion.
Both have since been bailed, Shea until Thursday and the man to a date next month.
Scotland Yard said a post-mortem on the dead woman will take place today at Westminster mortuary.
A spokeswoman said: “Inquiries into the incident continue.”
Shea and Adams were married during the Arsenal defender’s tumultuous career when he battled alcoholism and served four months in jail for drink-driving.
They separated in 1997.
Adams, who captained his club and England, later confessed he was an alcoholic and has since given up drinking.
