Planes collide over Mediterranean

Two small planes collided over the Mediterranean off the coast of southern France today, triggering a search for survivors.

The number of missing was not immediately known, as military and other rescuers searched from air and sea after the collision 43 miles from Montpellier, said maritime officials.
