Calls for Sunnis to join ceasefire

A US general today called on Sunni militants in Fallujah to join in a ceasefire to allow further negotiations between Iraqi leaders and representatives of the besieged city.

“Today what we are seeking is a bilateral ceasefire on the battlefield so we can allow for discussions,” Brigadier General Mark Kimmitt told reporters in Baghdad.
