23 die as bus plunges into mountain gorge

A bus skidded off a mountain road and fell into a deep gorge in Indian controlled Kashmir today, killing 23 passengers and injuring several others.

The accident occurred near the town of Loran, 130 miles north-west of Jammu, the state’s winter capital.
