Militants fire mortar at Israeli settlement
Palestinian militants attacked an Israeli military vehicle near Gaza City today and fired a mortar at a nearby settlement.
The attacks caused no casualties or damage, the army said.
The explosions rattled Gaza residents, already on edge since Israel assassinated Hamas spiritual leader Sheik Ahmed Yassin in a missile attack yesterday and threatened to kill other leaders of the militant Islamic group.
The army said that an anti-tank rocket had been fired at an armoured vehicle travelling near the Jewish settlement of Netzarim. Troops returned fire, the army said.
The army said at least one mortar shell had been fired at the settlement.
