Iraq rebels kill US marine

Rebels in Iraq killed a US Marine west of Baghdad, the US military said today.

“The Marine was participating in security and stability operations when the attack occurred,” the military said in a statement.

The Marine, from the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, died on Friday in Anbar province.

The name of the Marine was being withheld until his next of kin had been informed.
