US manhunt for motorway sniper ends

A man hunted across the US for a deadly string of motorway sniper attacks in Ohio has been captured in a Las Vegas motel.

“We got him in custody without incident,” said Las Vegas police Lieutenant Christopher Van Cleef.

Charles McCoy, 28, “wasn’t armed, but we haven’t been in the motel room or his vehicle yet,” said Van Cleef.

Since May, two dozen sniper shootings have targeted vehicles and buildings around the interstate highway, which circles Columbus, Ohio.

McCoy lived with his mother within a few miles of where the gunman’s bullets killed a car passenger, shattered windscreens, dented school buses and drilled into homes and a school.
