US releases dozens of Guantanamo detainees

The US military says it has released 23 Afghan and three Pakistani citizens from the its Guantanamo Bay detention centre in Cuba, leaving around 610 still in custody.

They were flown back to Afghanistan and Pakistan aboard US aircraft, officials said yesterday.
