Spanish troops will leave Iraq - PM-elect

Spanish prime minister-elect Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, whose Socialist party won Spain’s general elections, said today he will recall 1,300 peacekeeping troops in Iraq by June 30.

He said on Spanish radio that once he puts together his governing coalition and is installed as prime minister “the Spanish troops which are in Iraq will be returning home”.
