Iraqi leaders approve interim constitution

The 25 members of Iraq’s Governing Council unanimously approved a landmark interim constitution today at a meeting ahead of a signing ceremony.

The council gathered in Baghdad today, along with the top American and British administrators, Paul Bremer and Jeremy Greenstock, to review the document after a political impasse over some clauses was resolved.
