Roof collapses at Moscow water park

Part of a roof collapsed today at a Moscow water park, causing injuries, emergency service officials said.

Emergency crews were headed to the park located in south-west Moscow, a duty officer at the Emergency Situations Ministry said.

No details were available about how many people were injured or the extent of the injuries. The Emergency Situations Ministry said it had no further information.

The ITAR-Tass news agency reported that an explosion occurred at the park, however the Interfax news agency said that people inside merely described the sound of the collapse as resembling an explosion.

The Interfax news agency, quoting customers in the park, said that part of the building’s glass roof collapsed. The news agency said that dozens of people were injured.

Interfax said that 14 ambulances were heading to the park.

The Russian capital has been on edge since the February 6 bombing in a Moscow subway that killed 41 people and wounded more than 100.

President Vladimir Putin blamed Chechen rebels for that attack.
