Five people arrested on suspicion of the manslaughter of the 19 Chinese cocklers at Morecambe Bay were released tonight, Lancashire Police said.

Five people arrested on suspicion of the manslaughter of the 19 Chinese cocklers at Morecambe Bay were released tonight, Lancashire Police said.

The three men and two women, who all survived the tragedy which claimed the lives of two women and 17 men, were released just before 8.30pm pending further inquiries.

Police said the three men had been released into the custody of immigration services and the two women had been released on police bail.
