Two US soldiers killed in Iraq
A roadside bomb exploded west of Baghdad today, killing two American soldiers, the US military command said.
The attack occurred north of Fallujah, 80km west of Baghdad, in the “Sunni Triangle”, a centre of anti-American resistance, the command said.
The convoy belonged to Task Force All-American, which includes elements of the 82nd Airborne Division as well as other units. The command did not specify what unit was involved.
The latest deaths brought to 509 the number of American service members who have died since the United States and its allies launched the Iraq war on March 20. Most of the deaths have occurred since President George Bush declared an end to major combat on May 1.
