Comeback Kerry holds commanding lead

John Kerry has shot into a 10 point lead only days before New Hampshire holds the first primary to find a Democratic candidate in this year’s US presidential election.

The 59-year-old Massachusetts senator leads long-time front-runner Howard Dean 31% to 21%, according to a new Boston Herald poll.

Former Nato commander Wesley Clark is third with at 16% after skipping the Iowa caucuses which Kerry also won.

North Carolina Senator John Edwards is in fourth place with 11%.

Herald pollster Kelly Myers called it a “dramatic turn-around for John Kerry. His once fledgling campaign has found new legs and he now finds himself the clear front-runner in this race.”

The New Hampshire primary election is on January 27.
