Police investigating claim of assault on Hawking

British police tonight said they wanted to speak to disabled physicist Professor Stephen Hawking as part of an investigation into allegations that he has been assaulted.

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire police said officers would be happy to speak to Prof Hawking at his convenience in the hope of “clearing the matter up”.
