US appeals for greater UN involvement in Iraq

The Bush Administration is to appeal for greater United Nations involvement in the process of handing sovereignty back to the Iraqi people, US officials said today.

The American administrator in Iraq, Paul Bremer, and the Iraqi Governing Council will make an urgent appeal to the UN on Monday, Bush Administration officials said.
