A man appeared in court today charged with murdering a mother and attacking her daughter.

A man appeared in court today charged with murdering a mother and attacking her daughter.

Paul Viner, 44, appeared at Pontypridd Magistrates’ Court, south Wales, charged with murdering Donna Brough, 39, at her home on November 30.

Viner, of no fixed address, is also charged with unlawfully wounding and intending to do grievous bodily harm against Ms Brough’s daughter, 18-year-old Rebecca Phelan.

Viner did not speak during the three-minute hearing and only nodded to confirm his name.

He was remanded in custody and will appear at Cardiff Crown Court on January 9.

No application for bail was made.
