Soldier and children killed in Iraq
One US soldier and two Iraqi children were killed when a bomb exploded on a crowded street in Baghdad today.
The blast also injured five US soldiers and their Iraqi interpreter as well as eight members of Iraq’s US-trained civil defence corps, Sergeant Patrick Compton said.
All the US casualties were from the Army’s 2nd Armoured Cavalry Regiment. They were on patrol in the Karrada district in eastern Baghdad.
“It was a bad one,” Sgt Compton said. “It’s a real densely populated area of town.”
