Soccer legend George Best spent 10 hours under arrest today in connection with an alleged assault.
Best, 57, was arrested at 2am in Reigate, the town where he used to share a house with his estranged wife Alex.
Police refused to confirm his identity, or the victim of the alleged assault, but said he was released without charge and that no accusations were being pursued “by any party”.
A Surrey Police spokeswoman said: “A 57-year-old male from Walton on the Hill was arrested on December 26 at approximately 2am in Reigate, in relation to an allegation of assault.
“The male was later released without charge at around midday.
“No allegations are now being pursued by any party.”
The arrest is the latest drama in the life of the former Manchester United star.
