Turkish police hold man in al-Qaida probe

Turkish police have detained a man with alleged ties to al-Qaida and have seized enough chemical fertiliser to fill five truck bombs similar to those used in the Istanbul suicide bombings last month.

The daily Vatan and Sabah newspapers said police detained a top member of al-Qaida in Turkey, identified as Harun Ilhan, in the central city of Konya.
