Belgium: 12 dead in bus crash
Twelve people died and 37 were injured when a German bus swerved off the Brussels-to-Paris road near the French border and hit a concrete road marker, Belgian police said today.
The wounded were taken to hospitals around Hensies, a small town on the French border off the E19 road.
The crash victims were German and Turkish nationals.
âIt seems to me that the driver lost control over the wheel,â Hensies Mayor Eric Thiebaut told the VRT radio network.
The France-bound bus swerved off the road at about 5am (0400GMT). It hit a concrete road marker, caught fire and burned out, officials said.
