Jessica screamed: 'You pushed her'
Huntley's barrister Stephen Coward QC has asked Soham murder accused Ian Huntley what happened after Holy Wells fell into the bath at his home on the day she disappeared.
Huntley earlier told the court that he fell towards Holly while she sat on the bath edge with a nosebleed.
This is how this section of testimony developed in court:
Mr Coward said: ``What did you hear as she (Holly) began to fall backwards?''
Huntley: “I… I heard a splash.”
Mr Coward asked: “Was Holly going into the bath planned by you?”
Huntley replied: “No, it wasn’t planned.”
Mr Coward asked: “Was Holly going into the bath expected by you?”
Huntley said: “I’m sorry, can you repeat that please?”
Mr Coward asked: “Were you expecting it might happen before it happened?”
Huntley replied: “No.”
Mr Coward asked: “After you heard the splash, what was the next sound you remembered hearing?”
Huntley replied: “That would have been Jessica.”
Mr Coward asked: “What was the sound you were hearing?”
Huntley replied: “She she was screaming and shouting at me ’You pushed her’ over and over.”
Mr Coward asked: “Do you have any idea how many times it was said?”
Huntley replied: “No.”
Mr Coward asked: “Was it a few times or a lot of times?
Huntley replied: “I don’t know, I just heard her screaming ’You pushed her’.”
Mr Coward asked: “Was it true you had pushed her?”
Huntley said: “Do you mean purposely? No.”
Mr Coward said: “There are maybe two questions there. Did you deliberately push her into the bath?”
Huntley replied: “No.”
Mr Coward suggested: “It may be that accidentally you knocked Holly into the bath?”
Huntley replied: “That’s possible.”
