EU welcomes Iraqi government plans

The European Union today welcomed a White House proposal to have an internationally recognised Iraqi government in place by June.

Foreign ministers, meeting in Brussels, discussed the bleak security situation in Iraq and issued a statement stressing “the importance of a timing (of a power transfer) adapted to the situation”.
