Security chiefs put final touches to Bush visit

British security chiefs were today finalising the “unprecedented” policing operation to protect US President George W Bush, ahead of his arrival in Britain tomorrow.

They have been placed on Britain’s second highest terror alert but warnings of an attack by north African al-Qaida operatives are said to be unrelated to the first state visit by a US president.
