US helicopter shot down in Iraq

A US Army helicopter crash-landed today near Tikrit in Iraq after being hit by ground fire, witnesses said.

There was no comment from the US military command in Baghdad. However, witnesses said the helicopter went down in a farming area and smoke could be seen rising from the site.
