Two express trains collided in tonight’s rush hour causing at least one car to derail, Swiss Federal Railways said.

At least one person was killed and several injured, police said.

Rescue services, firefighters and police were dispatched to the scene of the crash, which occurred shortly before 6pm local time at a suburban station in Zurich.

The two trains were travelling from Schaffhausen, in northern Switzerland, and neighbouring Constance, over the border in Germany.
