EU rejects immigration quota plan

Plans to set immigration “quotas” were rejected by EU leaders at a summit in Brussels today.

The European Commission proposal was put forward as a way of tackling growing problems over the scale of illegal immigration and the trafficking in human beings across Europe – with the UK still the destination of choice for hundreds of thousands economic and political refugees.
