A 14-year-old boy said to have been shot in the forehead by a fellow high school pupil has died, Minnesota hospital officials said today.

Seth Bartell is the second victim of the September 24 shooting at Rocori High School in Cold Spring, a small town about 60 miles north west of the Twin Cities.

The teenager died moments before a press conference where hospital officials were to say the boy’s condition had worsened due to complications from the bullet that remained in the back of his head.

Authorities say Jason McLaughlin, 15, opened fire at Seth and fellow pupil Aaron Rollins, who died shortly after the attack.

Seth was shot twice, once in the left side of his forehead and once in the upper left side of his chest, hospital officials said.

Prosecutors charged McLaughlin on September 26 with second-degree murder and attempted murder.

Investigators have not said what the motive might have been.
