Police release man in hotel rape probe

A 29-year-old man arrested in connection with claims by a 17-year-old girl that she was gang raped in the Grosvenor House Hotel in London has been released on bail pending further inquiries, Scotland Yard said tonight.

He was the first man arrested by police investigating claims by a 17-year-old girl that she was gang-raped by a group of men including Premiership football stars.

The arrested man went voluntarily to a central London police station.

He was formally arrested and is being quizzed by detectives.
