Escaped backpacker spent 12 days without food

A young British backpacker kidnapped in the Colombian mountains with seven other foreigners escaped by sliding down a precipice and was fed by Indians before an army patrol found him.

“I haven’t eaten hardly anything for the last 12 days,” an exhausted Matthew Scott told reporters from a hospital bed at a military base in Santa Marta.
