Woman bludgeons children to death
A woman bludgeoned her two children to death with a baseball bat then stepped into the path of a truck in an apparent suicide bid.
Sylvia Ewing, 40, was taken to hospital in a critical condition. Police Lieutenant Tom Monahan said she would face murder charges if she recovered.
Lt Monahan would not disclose the contents of a one-page note found in the two-room flat in Las Vegas where Ewing’s husband discovered the bodies of his children, eight-year-old Phillip and four-year-old Julie, when he arrived home from work on Tuesday.
But he said the note “left little doubt it was her intention to take the children’s lives.”
“There is evidence that she was in the depths of a deep depression,” he added.
