Our friendship will prevail, Chirac tells US

The friendship between France and the US will prevail despite differences over the Iraq war, French president Jacques Chirac has said.

Chirac’s comments during a visit yesterday to inaugurate a French school in New York came as the two nations tried to avoid another showdown over Iraq.
