Jade ecstasy dealer facing jail in Britain

The man whose Ecstasy tablets killed 10-year-old Jade Slack was facing jail for drug dealing today.

Wayne Wood, 22, of Galgate, near Lancaster, Lancashire, UK, was cleared on Wednesday of Jade’s manslaughter but had already pleaded guilty to pedalling Ecstasy for months leading up to her death.

He even admitted selling the class A pills while Jade lay dying, having taken five of his tablets at the home of his former girlfriend, Rebecca Hodgson, in July 2002.

Hodgson, 21, of Lancaster, was also cleared of manslaughter and had three charges against her left to lie on file following the pair’s trial at Manchester Crown Court.

Wood was warned he faced a “substantial” jail term by trial judge Mr Justice Morland.

He pleaded guilty to three charges of supplying Ecstasy and one count of possession with intent.

He was due to be sentenced today at Manchester Crown Court.

Following the trial, Jade’s parents, Simon and Beverley, from Galgate, described their popular and outgoing daughter as their “angel”.
