Three US troops killed in Tikrit ambush

Assailants ambushed US troops on the outskirts of Saddam Hussein’s hometown, killing three soldiers and wounding two others later, the military said.

The soldiers had been investigating a site suspected of serving as a launch pad for rocket-propelled grenades when they came under small-arms fire yesterday, Lieutenant Colonel William McDonald said.
