Jailed Burmese democracy leader in hospital
Aung San Suu Kyi, Burma’s jailed Nobel Peace Prize winning pro-democracy leader, has undergone surgery, hospital officials said today.
The widow of an Oxford don, whose two sons live in Britain, had an operation for an unspecified gynaecological condition, the officials said.
Suu Kyi was admitted to the Asia Royal Cardiac and Medical Centre in the capital, Rangoon, last night, said a doctor.
The details of her condition were not immediately available, but doctors described the operation as a success, saying there were no complications .
