Pope ends gruelling foreign trip
An increasingly frail Pope John Paul II celebrated Mass for 200,000 faithful today, completing a gruelling four-day pilgrimage that raised fresh doubts about his ability to keep travelling.
The 83-year-old pope appeared alert, but clearly weakened during the two and a half hour service honouring two clerics imprisoned and tortured under Slovakia’s former communist regime.
