Islam fears soar in US

Americans’ suspicion of Islam has more than doubled over the last year and fewer than half now call it a peaceful religion, a poll says.

The ABC News poll says one-third of Americans now think the religion encourages violence against non-Muslims – double the number of people who felt that way 20 months ago.
