Firemen killed battling Riviera blaze
Three firefighters have died battling a blaze that tore through 11,000 acres of pine forest in the French Riviera.
Two of the three men killed on Monday near Cogolin were volunteers, and one was a professional firefighter.
A fourth man was seriously injured. French President Jacques Chirac expressed his "deep emotion, sympathy, and support for their families and loved ones."
Police evacuated campgrounds in the area. School officials also delayed the first day of school today for children in 11 of the worst-hit communities.
