Soham murder suspect taken to hospital

Soham murder suspect Ian Huntley has been treated in hospital for a medical complaint, it emerged today.

In a co-ordinated operation involving British police and Prison Service staff, Huntley, 29, was taken from top-security Woodhill Prison to nearby Milton Keynes General Hospital.

A Prison Service spokesman refused to comment on reports in the Daily Mirror that the former school caretaker was coughing up blood.

“We don’t discuss individual prisoners or their confidential medical details,” he said.

It is understood that Huntley was taken to hospital on Wednesday morning and was back in prison the same day.

Huntley has denied murdering 10-year-olds Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman but admitted conspiring to pervert the course of justice.

His trial is due to begin at the Old Bailey in October.
