Stepfather sentenced to death for rape

A man has been sentenced to death for raping his eight-year-old stepdaughter in what could be Louisiana’s first capital punishment for a crime other than murder.

The man, whose identity was being withheld to protect the victim, was convicted of aggravated rape and jurors sentenced him to death after nearly two hours of deliberations.
