Small earthquakes shake America
Minor earthquakes have shaken New Jersey, Los Angeles and Hawaii, but there were no reports of injuries or serious damage.
In Los Angeles County, a magnitude 3.8 tremor struck at 11:02pm last night about five miles west of Valencia.
In Hawaii, a quake registering a preliminary magnitude of about 5.0 rattled Oahu, according to the US Geological Survey. It was centred eight miles south-east of the summit of Kilauea Volcano in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
In New Jersey, the magnitude 3.8 quake hit at 2:24pm yesterday and was centred about eight miles south of Milford, shaking buildings.
“At the top of the Milford hill, it felt like an explosion,” said Emergency Management Co-ordinator Henry Schepens. “In town it felt more like a shaking.”
