A teenage father whose newborn son was found alive in a portable toilet in freezing weather in Wisconsin has been jailed for eight years.

“Please give me a second chance. I know I’m not a bad person,” said a tearful Gabriel Estrada, 18, after pleading guilty to attempted murder.

The baby’s 17-year-old mother met Estrada in a car park shortly after giving birth and they discussed what to do with the infant.

Estrada grabbed the child and dumped him in the waste pit of a portable toilet. Passers-by heard whimpering and found the baby. He was rescued and adopted by foster parents.

The mother was given three years probation and 360 hours community service.
