US urged to restore political power to Iraq

The United States and its allies must quickly put power back in the hands of the Iraqi people to bring stability to the country, the French foreign minister said today.

In a harsh criticism of the occupation of Iraq, Dominique de Villepin warned that the US had increasingly fallen into “a logic of confrontation”.
