Five people died while fleeing from a forest fire in north-east Spain today.

Five people died while fleeing from a forest fire in north-east Spain today.

The five left a house in the town of Sant Llorenc Savall in Barcelona province and apparently choked in a thick cloud of smoke, said Artur Mas, chief adviser to the Catalan president Jordi Pujol.

The bodies were found charred, Mas said.
