Israeli soldier's family prepares for funeral
The family of a soldier whose body was found in a Palestinian-majority area in Israel were today preparing for his funeral.
Oleg Shaichat, 20, disappeared on July 21.
He was found buried in northern Israel, said police spokesman Gil Kleiman, and it was believed he had been kidnapped and killed – either by Palestinians or by Israeli Arabs.
Israeli police also fired rubber bullets and tear gas at demonstrators protesting against an Israeli security barrier in the West Bank.
Elsewhere, Palestinian gunmen opened fire on an Israeli car near the Jewish West Bank settlement of Itzhar, slightly wounding an 11-year-old girl.
She was treated at a local clinic and then taken to hospital.
