Pakistani prisoners take judges hostage

Rioting prisoners at a jail in eastern Pakistan are holding five judges and about 50 other inmates hostage.

The judges had been inspecting the prison in Sialkot, 60 miles north-east of Lahore.

The rioters were armed, but police say it is not clear how they obtained the weapons.

A police spokesman says they have demanded two small buses and more weapons in order to escape.

Police officers are surrounding the prison grounds.
