Train hits school bus in India

A train rammed into a school bus at an unguarded crossing in India’s southern Tamil Nadu state today, killing five people including four children.

The bus, with seven children, a driver and conductor was at a crossing near Villianai, 200 miles south-west of the state capital, Madras.

The conductor and four children were killed.

Railway accidents occur frequently in India, which has the world’s largest rail network. More than 140 people have died this year.
