Crows 'help rescue abandoned baby girl'

Two scavenging crows drew the attention of passers-by and led them to an abandoned newborn girl left in a rubbish bin in north-west Bangladesh, it was reported today.

The baby, wrapped in a bloodstained plastic bag, was found yesterday in Rajshahi, 145 miles north-west of the capital Dhaka.

The Inqilab newspaper said curious onlookers had stopped to watch the two birds trying to seize the bag and attacking each other. Then they heard the baby crying inside and rushed to rescue it.

The newspaper said the child was sent to hospital where doctors said she was in a good condition and was doing well.
